Best time to fly from Legazpi to Davao

Rain is the main thing we try to avoid when traveling in the Philippines. Even though it is almost impossible to avoid rain, the best time to visit Davao would be during summer. If you would like to experience the culture and catch a glimpse of how the Davawenyos celebrate their festivals, you should make your way o Davao on the third week of August. During this period, you will be able to experience a week-long celebration of the Kadayawan Festival, which celebrates thanksgiving for the gifts of nature, the bounties of harvest and the serenity of life.


Main airports available in Legazpi and Davao

Legazpi Airport (LGP) - The Legazpi Airport, located 15km from town is the main airport in the Bicol region. The airport serves the surrounding areas of Legazpi, the capital city of Albay. To get to Legazpi city from the airport, you may head out of the airport gate and get a tricycle from there. Tricycle usually cost around P50 one way. One trip will take approximately 15 minutes, depending on traffic. If you walk to the road outside, you may take jeepneys to the Albay district or Daraga city. Even though Legazpi airport is a rather small airport which consists of a single-story building, it is equipped with a waiting area and a tour desk.


Francisco Bangoy International Airport - The Davao Airport or officially known as the Francisco Bangoy International Airport is the busiest airport on the Mindanao Island. It is also the third busiest airport in the Philippines. The airport is the main airport servicing the city of Davao and the Davao region. There are two common ways to get to and from Davao airport, which is by taxi and by a jeepney. From downtown Davao, the taxi to the airport will cost approximately PHP 150. Even though a bit expensive, taxi is the most convenient way to get to the airport. A jeepney to the airport will cost approximately PHP 10-15 and will take around 30 minutes to 1 hour to reach the airport, depending on the traffic.


Climate pattern in Legazpi and Davao

Both Legazpi and Davao a very similar climate. Both have tropical climates with hot weather and rain throughout the year and a very similar average temperature. The average temperature for Legazpi is 27.1 degrees Celsius while in Davao, the average temperature is 27.0 degrees Celsius. There is a large difference in the amount of rainfall between the two cities as Legazpi receives an annual amount of 3104 mm of rain compared to Davao, which only receives 1878 mm of rain annually.


Highlights attractions in Davao

  • Crocodile Park - Davao is known for its crocodiles and the crocodile farm is home to thousands of freshwater and saltwater crocodiles. Crocodile Park is one of Davao's most popular tourist spots. With a breeding program in the park, visitors get the chance to see hundreds of crocodile eggs in the incubator room. Apart from crocodiles, the park also has monkeys, snakes, birds and other different reptiles.
  • Jack’s Ridge - To get a full birds-eye view of the city of Davao, Jack's Ridge is the place to visit. Settled on top of a ridge, Jack's Ridge used to be the headquarters for retreating Japanese forces during World War II. Here, visitors can enjoy the marvelous view from Karlo's Gourmet, a restaurant famous for their coffee and baked treats. If you are in the mood for Filipino food, you can enjoy open-air dining at Taklobo. Visitors to Jack's Ridge can also spend the night at the cottages available. Each cottage comes with a private pool and stunning view of the sunrise.
  • Dahican Beach -A visit to Davao would be incomplete without a visit to Dahican Beach. Dahican Beach is said to be the most beautiful beach on the mainland Philippines. Here travelers can soak up the sun along the seven-kilometer sand white beach and take a dip in the turquoise waters. You can rent boogie boards and surfboards from shacks along the beach to practice your moves on the waves. There are plenty of resorts along the beach, or you can just pitch a tent and fall asleep to the sound of the lapping waves.
