Dipolog or the city of Dipolog, has a population of approximately 130,759 people and is surrounded by rolling hills on the southeast. On the North of the city is the Sulu Sea. Dipolog city is best known for its beautiful wild orchids and its sardine industry. Dipolog was once known as the “Bottled Sardines Capital” of the Philippines.
When traveling within the Philippines, the thing that we want to avoid most is the rain. In Dipolog City, February is the driest month and the best times to visit the city. May, June, July, September, October and November are the months to avoid visiting Dipolog as these months bring more rain to Dipolog, especially in November. If you don’t mind the rain, September would be the best time to visit Dipolog as September offers a cooler climate with a bit of rain.
Legazpi Airport (LGP) - The Legazpi Airport, located 15km from town is the main airport in the Bicol region. The airport serves the surrounding areas of Legazpi, the capital city of Albay. To get to Legazpi city from the airport, you may head out of the airport gate and get a tricycle from there. Tricycle usually cost around P50 one way. One trip will take approximately 15 minutes, depending on traffic. If you walk to the road outside, you may take jeepneys to the Albay district or Daraga city. Even though Legazpi airport is a rather small airport which consists of a single-story building, it is equipped with a waiting area and a tour desk.
Dipolog Airport - The general area of Dipolog, the capital of Zamboanga del Norte is serviced by Dipolog airport. Located approximately 14 kilometers away from Dipolog city, the airport has 3 airlines operating flights to and from the airport, which are Royale Air Way Charter, Philippine Airlines and Cebu Pacific. The small airport is a small airport without any conveyor belts. Travelers will have to pick up their luggage from cart places at the arrival gate. Getting transportation to and from the airport may be a difficult task. Therefore it is much advised to arrange to pick up services with the hotel you are staying in before leaving for Dipolog.
Both Legazpi and Dipolog experience a tropical climate with hot weather and rainfall all year round. The average temperature between the two cities does not differ much with the average temperature in Dipolog being 27.6 degrees Celsius and the average temperature in Legazpi being 27.1 degrees Celsius. Legazpi, however, experiences a slightly higher amount of rainfall with 3104 mm annual rainfall a year compared to Dipolog with an annual rainfall of 2462 mm.
