Sapporo has a humid continental climate with vary temperatures across its seasons. Summers in Sapporo usually is slightly wet and not too warm. Although Sapporo has a humid climate, it does not have that many rainy days like other states with humid climates. The precipitation accumulates on winters for its snowfall. Sapporo is one of the few metropolises that experience heavy snowfall which makes it a particular spot for people to gather to celebrate extravagant snow festivals.
