Southampton is a city in Hampshire, England, and the largest in South East England and located approximately 70 miles (110 km) southwest of London and 15 miles (24 km) north-west of Portsmouth. The main port and close to the New Forest. Southampton sits at the northernmost point of Southampton Water, at the convergence of the Itchen and River Test, with the River Hamble connected to the south. The unitary agency had a population of 253,702 at the 2011 survey. The peoples of Southampton are called a Sotonian. The climate of Southampton is oceanic, with very cold, rainy winters and warm, relatively rainy summers. The city is in the south of England, close to the coast of Hampshire. To the west of the city, we can find the New Forest National Park, while to the south, away from the stretch of sea called The Solent, we find the Isle of Wight.
