Bangkok Airways (PG/BKP) is the first private airline in Thailand. Headquartered in Chatuchak District, Bangkok, its main base is in Suvarnabhumi International Airport Bangkok.
Through its slogan “ASIA’S BOUTIQUE AIRLINE; Exclusive Service to Exotic Gems”, the airline is positioning itself as a boutique airline offering the best personalized service to passengers and developing more exotic and cultural destinations. Aligned with its positioning, Bangkok Airways becomes the only airline with scheduled direct flight from Bangkok to Ko Samui for years. The airline also built its own airport in Ko Samui, Sukhotai Province and Trat.
As a full service airline, Bangkok Airways offers 2 travel classes: Blue Ribbon Class (Business Class) and Economy Class. Passengers of Blue Ribbon Class get free checked baggage allowance up to 30 kg and cabin baggage up to 5 kg. They also get an iPad mini as in-flight entertainment at no cost. However, passengers of Economy Class get free checked baggage allowance up to 20 kg and cabin baggage up to 5 kg.
Flights duty free shopping is available on Bangkok Airways both in Blue Ribbon Class and Economy Class. The airline also has a frequent flyer program called FlyerBonus. The program gives its members extra 10 kg of checked baggage allowance.
In March 2013, Bangkok Airways introduced the airline’s 5 mascots targeting group of kids and teens. These mascots will be developed further as a product and cartoon series for Bangkok Airways’ in-flight entertainment and lounges.
Bangkok Airways offers almost a hundred flights per day from Suvarnabhumi International Airport to more than twenty exquisite destinations across Thailand and Asia. Samui, Phuket, Trat and Maldives are amongst passengers’ hottest selections. The airline has been voted by Skytrax as “World’s Best Regional Airline” and “Best Regional Airline Asia” in 2004 – 2009, 2011 and 2014.

Bangkok Airways is the first privately-owned aviation company in Thailand. Established in 1968, Bangkok Airways was formerly known as Sahakol Air. Its first operational aircraft was the Tradewind, a two-engine 9-seater plane. The fleet was mostly chartered by the foreign companies engaged in Thailand such as OICC (Overseas International Construction Company) and USOM (Unite States Operation Mission).
Due to the rapid growth of tourism and business investments in Thailand, Bangkok Airways officially began its operations in 1986. It initially offered scheduled flights from Bangkok to Krabi, Korat and Surin.
Today, Bangkok Airways operates regular flights over 20 different major routes. The airline also obtains permits to fly internationally to Myanmar, Laos, Cambodia, Malaysia, Singapore, India, Bangladesh and Maldives.
Bangkok Airways also invested in building and maintaining its own privately-operated airports at Samui, Sukhothai, and Trat. It is undeniable that Bangkok Airways plays a large part in promoting Ko Samui as a tourist destination. Due to its scheduled flight, Samui now is more accessible for visitors worldwide.
Bangkok Airways flight attendant’s uniform emphasizes on flexibility. The FA uniform has stripes pattern with shades of blue and turquoise. It represents blue wave and sky which is inspired by Bangkok Airways’ aircraft painting. The FA uniform is made from silk-poly fabric that is light and comfortable.
As a full-service airline, Bangkok Airways provides various menus as well as selections of beverages. Hot or cold meals/snacks are served on all flights depending on the time of day and flight duration. Special dietary menu and Halal meals can be requested.
