Hotels near Simpan Hulu Langat Forest

Situated approximately 21 kilometres from Cheras and 30 kilometres from Kuala Lumpur, Hulu Langat Forest Reserve or Hutan Simpan Hulu Langat is also known as the Taman Warisan Negeri Selangor (Selangor State Heritage Park). This forest is a dipterocarp forest and features natural environment with flora and fauna. This place is famous for picnic and gathering with family and friends on weekends. Besides picnic, activities like camping and trekking the forest trails are also popular among visitors.

Once you reach the top, there is a nice open clearing and perfect to watch the sunset or sunrise. The hike is one of the toughest and touching the border between Selangor and Pahang. Visitors are advised to be prepared in terms of extra clothing, first aid kit, food as the hike is approximately an hour long. Visitors can also park cars at the car park available with additional charges.

How to Get There

By Car

From Kuala Lumpur city centre, it takes around 40 minutes to reach Simpan Ulu Langat Forest by using Hulu Langat road. You can also access this forest from Kuala Lumpur International Airport but it takes longer time which is an hour and 20 minutes via North-South highway.

Gabai River Waterfalls

Gabai River Waterfalls is situated at Lui River village and consists of 12 levels with 336 small stairs before reaching the top level. The place features facilities such as public toilet, changing rooms and musallah as well as gazebos to rest. It is one of the closest waterfalls to Kuala Lumpur and famous among locals during weekends, public holidays and school holidays. Visitors are required to pay RM1 per person upon arrival. The operational hour starts from 7.00am to 6.00pm daily and parking rate for car is RM2.00 and RM1.00 for motorcycle.

Ketumbar Hill Top

Ketumbar Hill is a part of forest reserve alongside Apek and Saga hills. Standing tall at 300 metres above sea level, it is a popular hiking spot for nearby residents, especially in the early mornings, late afternoons and at weekends. There are wild boars here and visitors are reminded not to feed them, avoid sudden moves, do not come between a mother boar and her young and don’t bring aggressive dogs. Boars would normally only attack if they feel cornered or threatened. The distance from ground to the top is approximately 2.9 kilometres or 4,946 steps which equivalent to 59 floors climbed. Visitors are advised to bring water, insect repellent, comfortable shoes, hiking pole and mobile phone.
