Bukit Merah is located under the district of Kerian in the state of Perak, Malaysia. It is close to Gunung Semanggol, Taiping and Kuala Kurau. It is also a village of 11,000 people. It is quite close to the capital state, Ipoh. It is around 1 hour and 7 minutes to reach Ipoh. It is around 86.6 kilometers apart.

The locals use Bahasa Melayu as a form of communication. It is the first language and is widely used. However the locals may have a dialect in the language. How to Get There

By Car

Bukit Merah can be accessible using the North – South Expressway Northern Route. From Kuala Lumpur, visitors may head north towards Ipoh. However instead of exiting at Ipoh, continue straight and take the exit 141; Ipoh/ Jelapang/ Sg. Siput and head north. There, signs that lead to Bukit Merah will be visible all along the road to Bukit Merah.

By Bus

From Puduraya Bus Station, visitors can get bus tickets from all sorts of bus companies to head to Ipoh. Some of them are Plusliner, Transnasional and Sri Maju. There are a lot of buses that make trips almost every hour. The fare on the other hand is around RM30 per way. Then visitors may take the local bus and head to Bukit Merah. The fare will be less than RM5.

By Train

Another alternative to go to Tambun would be via train. From KL Central, one may take the train to Ipoh. Currently the trains towards Ipoh are all using electricity. It takes the same amount of time as a bus or a car that heads to Ipoh. The fare is around RM35 per way. Then from the Ipoh Train Station, visitors may either take the bus or the taxi to go to Bukit Merah.

Bukit Merah Laketown Resort

Bukit Merah Laketown Resort is a recreational park with a theme of Lake Park that is very interesting and beautiful. It is located at Tasik Semanggol. Perak has collaborated with Emkay Snd Bhd owner to turn this park into one of the tourist attraction of Perak. It is as big as 4.4 acres and is surrounded by greenery. This park not only has a water park, it also has a gondola, Orang Utan Island as well as a mini zoo. The orang utan island was created in a way that the humans are the ones made to be in the cage while the orang utans are left to roam free. The mini zoo on the other hand has quite the variety of animals such as bears, reptiles as well as birds.

There are several malay village in the area of Bukit Merah. Here visitors may take a tour to these villages and look at Malay house and their schools. Visitors on this tour also will be able to learn how to weave a grass mat. This way, visitors will be able to learn more about the culture.
