This small airport is located at the elavation of 45 ft / 14 m in the southeastern part of the Malaysia. Danum Valley comprises 43,800 ha of virgin forest is about 70 kilometres (44 miles) west of Lahad Datu. This valley has been recognised as one of the world's most complex ecosystems. This forest serves as a natural home for endangered wildlife species such as banteng, Asian elephant, clouded leopard, orang utan, proboscis monkey, as well as a vast range of Sabah’s lowland fauna. The hot and humid jungle swarms with a variety of towering tropical trees provides visitors with ecological experience into the wilds and wonders of ancient tropical forests. The existence of Tabin Wildlife Reserve is part of the State Government's efforts to protect and preserve wildlife. It was gazetted in 1984 under the Forest Enactment, 1968 and classified as a Forest Reserve. The reserve occupies a large part of the peninsula forming the northern headland of Darvel Bay, located forty-eight kilometers east of Lahad Datu. It covers 112,000 hectares, including 9,000 hectares of primary unlogged forest. Home to a vast species of flora and fauna, some of the attractions at this reserve are bathing the volcano’s mud of Gunung Berapi Lumpur, trekking the nature trails while observing the wildlife as well as the unusual special of birds.
The Gomantong Caves are a part of a complex cave system inside Gomantong Hill in Sandakan. the caves and the surrounding area are a protected for wildlife, especially the endangered orangutans. the caves have been known for their precious edible swiftlet nests, which are harvested for bird's nest soup for centuries. The entire area comprises of are two cave complexes, Simud Hitam (Black Cave) and Simud Putih (White Cave). This place is ideal especially for those who loves extream activities.
