Jamek Paka Mosque is a landmark in the town of Paka, located 100 kilometres south of the state capital, Kuala Terengganu. The town has experienced an increase in population due to the oil and gas industry investments attracting people from all over the country to come to Paka to work in its refinery plants and petrochemicals production. As such, this mosque is perfectly built to accommodate the religious needs of the growing residents of Paka due to its sheer size that could accommodate more congregants.
The mosque is also positioned just nearby the main road of Jalan Kemaman-Dungun, therefore it is easily accessible upon coming to Paka, especially with its distinctive features in comparison to the buildings nearby. The mosque is commonly used by the residents of Muslim faith for various religious activities focusing on the community such as sermons, the mass obligatory of five-time day prayers, Quran and hadith studies and many more.
Paka can be accessed by flight since there is an airport that serves the nearby town of Kerteh, albeit limited. Nonetheless, the Kuala Terengganu Airport is also close by, within two hours of journey. There are flights to Kuala Terengganu provided by Malaysia Airlines and Air Asia. From the airport, guests may hail up a taxi or public transportation to go around to Jamek Paka Mosque.
People driving from Kuala Lumpur may drive through E8 route for direct access to the landmark. The journey could take up to three hours and thirty minutes, depending on the traffic situation.
While the nearest express bus terminal is the Dungun Express Bus Terminal which is located alongside Jalan Kuala Terengganu, Paka town has its own bus station too. Take the trip directly to Paka from Terminal Bersepadu Selatan (TBS) terminal using express bus services such as Express Kesatuan, Express Mutiara and UBT Group. From here, hop on a local route bus or taxi to go around town to reach the landmark.
Being the only beach in town, Paka Beach can be reached from the city centre in less than ten minutes. The coastal area is beautiful, the same can be said for the sea view. At times, visitors can notice the ships sailing through the seas that are meant to stop by at the Kerteh Port to stock up oil, which is a common view here. The beach is suited for strolling or jogging, especially nearby the Bauk Hill area. However, swimming is not advised in the area since the tidal waves here are much stronger. Nearby, food stalls can be found selling Terengganuan food such as the infamous fish crackers and breaded seafood as well as other cooked food.
