Hotels near Kerteh Airport (KTE)

Kerteh Airport is only small and was built to serve the oil platforms offshore in the South China Sea. The airport is owned and operated by Petroleum Nasional Berhad or Petronas via its East Coast Regional Office (ECRO), and was built to serve the purpose of airlifting its employees and ExxonMobil employees. Most of the flights are in helicopters operated by Malaysia Helicopter Services (MHS). The runway is 3000 metres in length and is big enough for a Boeing 737-400 to land and the airport has a single 1,362 m (4,469 ft) long runway which can accommodate a Boeing 737-400 aircraft. The airport also used to have a weekday fixed-wing chartered service using a Beechcraft 1900 Airliner turboprop aircraft, also operated by MHS, which shuttles Petronas and ExxonMobil employees from Kerteh to the Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport (SZB) in Subang near Kuala Lumpur. The fixed-wing service has ceased operation and now replaced with regular Malindo Air scheduled flights using ATR 72-600 short-haul aircraft. There are different domestic and international airlines that operate from Kerteh airport such asare Malaysia Airlines, Malindo Air and Firefly now serves two destinations in Terengganu namely Kuala Terengganu and Kerteh from Subang Airport.

How to Get There

A taxi to or from the airport costs around RM20.Car hire is available at the airport and it is probably better to book in advance. The express bus station in Terengganu has links to local towns and Penang.It will take around 5 hours to reach Kerteh Airport by using Segamat/Kuantan/Bandar Tun Razak highway from Kuala Lumpur city.

Kemasik beach

Kemasik Beach is one of the most beautiful beaches in Terengganu and is best noted for its rock formation off the coast. It is a nice place to view the scenery and admire the South China Sea, especially on windy days. Kemasik Beach is located between Kerteh to the north and Kijal to the south. Kemasik Beach is one of the beaches in Terengganu that the locals go to in the evening and during the weekends. There are a few food stalls here that sell local food such as the Keropok Lekor. It is made from fish meat that is grounded to a paste, mixed together with sago after which it is boiled. The Keropok Keping is the fried and crispy version. They are usually taken when hot and dip with chilli sauce. Fried cuttlefish can also be taken as finger food while you are here. Take note that the weekends in the state of Terengganu are on Friday and Saturday.

Mesra Mall

This mall is located near Kerteh Airport and is the only mall available here. There are many stores for visitors’ convenience and it is a nice place for hang out with friends. There are many eateries here such as Pizza Hut, Burger King and also their local food court. This mall also has cinema , bowling and grocery stores and only takes 10 minutes drive from Resort World Kijal.
