Dungun is a coastal district located in Terengganu, Malaysia. It is made up of eleven sub districts like Abang, Besol, Jengai, Jerangau, Kuala Dungun, Kuala Paka, Kumpal, Pasir Raja, Rasau, Sura, and Hulu Paka. The name ‘Dungun’ is derived from Dungun trees, which are largely found in freshwater swamp areas. Dungun was the most popular district in Terengganu as well as other countries like Japan and Korea due to the discovery of iron ore. It is expected that Dungun will continue to flourish in the gas and petroleum-based industries.
