Hotels near Night Market (TAR Road)

Night Market at TAR Road is an open air night market site located at the titular Tuanku Abdul Rahman Road, in which the road name is taken from the first Supreme Head of State, Tuanku Abdul Rahman ibni Almarhum Tuanku Muhammad. It is about ten minutes away from the town center and is situated closely to the main road which is nearby other facilities such as train stations, commercial centers, malls, shops, banks, restaurants, skyscrapers and many more. As such, the market is undoubtedly easy to find especially when it is opened, since the road will be close to give way to the market to operate.

It is the biggest night market of its kind in the area which serves the local population, making it convenient for them to get clothing and other goods all available at once as well as bargaining for the best price. Another major highlight here is the massive selection of food offered by the 400 stalls operators, selling a multitude of dishes ranging from Malay food to Western dishes. Typically opened from 6 am to 11 pm daily with high traffic in the twilight due to the supplies coming in and locals eager to get their hands on the available goods.

The night market has been in operation since 1985 and has been a household name for the people of Klang Valley and the country, being immensely populated during weekends and festive seasons especially the fasting month of Ramadhan and the upcoming Eid Fitri in the month of Syawal. In 2017, the market faces a chance of relocation in order to give way to the city council to proceed with the River of Life (RoL) project which involves the TAR Road, nonetheless the idea has been postponed several times due to the lack of readiness in facilities and the stall operators maintained their base in the TAR Road till this day.

By Car

People driving from Kuala Lumpur may drive via Route 1 for immediate access to Night Market TAR Road. The journey could take up around 10 minutes depending on the traffic.

By Train

The train lines providing direct access to Night Market TAR Road is the KTM line to Bank Negara KTM station, Ampang – Sentul Timur LRT Line to Bandaraya station as well as the Gombak Line stopping at Masjid Jamek or Dang Wangi. From the centralized KL Sentral station, take the either of these train lines and make a stop at the mentioned stations before opting for taxi or ride-hailing services to go to the landmark.

KL Forest Eco Park

Also known as Bukit Nanas Forest Reserve previously, it is the only area in the Kuala Lumpur metropolitan having any greenery at all. Located at Jalan Raja Chulan which is about seven minutes away from the night market, there are several nature trails and forest canopy walkway, having gazetted as a permanent forest reserve in 1906. The park contains some of the finest specimens of lowland dipterocarp and non-dipterocarp trees including some endangered and threatened species such as camphor and Karas, as well as acting as a refuge spot for birds and wildlife.
