Bukit Bintang

About

Bukit Bintang, or formally now known as Bintang Walk, is a shopping and entertainment district in the heart of Kuala Lumpur. It is located in Jalan Bukit Bintang, hence the name, and its immediate surrounding areas. Started in the year 1980s, but the YTL Corporation, as part of rejuvenation program of the city, today Bukit Bintang is one of the trendiest destinations in Kuala Lumpur. There are about nine malls in that district, with the oldest mall being the Sungei Wang Plaza which opened in the year 1977 and the biggest with a theme park inside, the Berjaya Time Square. Bukit Bintang is located about 4.5 kilometres away from the city of Kuala Lumpur.

How to Get There

By Car

Driving from the city of Kuala Lumpur to the Jalan Bukit Bintang, will take just under ten minutes, depending on the current traffic. Do remember that during the peak hours, the trip can be more than fifteen minutes.

By Taxi

Taxi rides are easily available in the city of Kuala Lumpur. Taxi services from KL Central are prepaid service, in which the price to places are fixed and are paid at the taxi stands inside the KL Central. Also, around Kuala Lumpur, it is easy to find a taxi but do put in mind that some of the taxi drivers refuse to use the meter and will give exorbitant fixed price. Find a taxi that use meter or haggle for a cheaper price before you get into the taxi.

By Monorail

There is a monorail station in Bukit Bintang, located between Lot 10 mall and Sungei Wang Plaza, with another one monorail station, the Imbi Monorail station, located further south to the Bukit Bintang station.

By Mass Rapid Transit (MRT)

The newly built public transport in Malaysia is also connects Bukit Bintang into its line, as part of the Sungai Buloh line. There are two stations, located in the east and the west parts of Bukit Bintang. MRT is accessible via KL Central.

Other access

Pavilion shopping centre n Bukit Bintang is connected with Suria KLCC via an elevated, air-conditioned walkway. Built by Petronas, the walkway is also linked the Raja Chulan Road monorail – making the access to Bukit Bintang a lot easier.

Berjaya Times Square Theme Park

As a place that is well known for its entertainments, Bukit Bintang has a lot to offer and one of them being the Berjaya Times Square Theme Park, a theme park that is located inside a shopping mall. A twelve-level and the 13th largest shopping mall in the world, this huge place housed the biggest indoor theme park in Malaysia at its 5th to 7th floor of the building. The theme park offers more than ten rides with the park divided into two different themed areas, the Galaxy Station and the Fantasy Garden.

Bintang Walk

It is the core of the Bukit Bintang and along this stretch of road, restaurants have been popping up. Most of them caters to the Arabian and Middle East cuisines. There are also other international and also local foods being serve in every other restaurant.
