The Atkinson Clock Tower is one of the oldest buildings that is still standing in the state of Sabah. Situated at Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, the Atkinson Clock Tower stands along Signal Hill Road, the Atkinson Clock Tower is now managed by Sabah Museum under its Antiquity and History department, and located next to the Traffic Police Station at the foot of Signal Hill within an easy stroll from almost anywhere in Kota Kinabalu city. The unique timepiece at the foot of Signal hill is one of the only structures to survive the Allied bombing of Jesselton in 1945. It is a square, 15.7m-high wooden structure that was completed in 1905 and named after the first district officer of the town which is FG Atkinson who died of malaria at 28 years old. The uniqueness and beauty of this structure is that it is made with only wood and not using a single nail and also this building had survived a war and had gone through a number of changes throughout the years.
