Hospital Raja Permaisuri Bainun is a Malaysian government-owned public hospital which located in Ipoh, Perak or commonly known as Hospital Ipoh or Ipoh General Hospital. It began operations in 1891 as a district hospital with capacity of 50 beds only. The hospital has expanded significantly over the years and now it consists of 8-storey main building (completed in 1980), a Specialist Clinic Complex (year 1992) and also a Daily Care Complex (year 2005). The hospital later changed its name to Hospital Raja Permaisuri Bainun on 12 th June 2008. Currently, the hospital is the third largest hospital under the Ministry of Health of Malaysia with capacity of 990 beds and 16 operating theaters. It also has a wide range of specialist services including sub specialist such as nephrology, medical respiratory, hematology, neurosurgery, plastic surgery, and pediatric surgery.
