With a total length of 13.5 kilometres, Penang Bridge is no doubt one of the many architecture wonders of Penang. Known as the second-longest bridge in Malaysia and the fifth-longest in Southeast Asia, Penang Bridge is the vital link connecting Penang Island and Perai on the mainland of West Malaysia. The bridge was inaugurated on 14 September 1985 and has been a famous local attraction ever since. It has marked the a milestone that brings Penang closer to the world attention and it took about 5 years of meticulous construction to complete this iconic masterpiece. The core historic zone of Penang Heritage Trail extends over 100 hectares and includes 1700 historic buildings. If you choose hiking, there are two routes provided; the 3.8 km long route (journey usually takes 2 hour) and the 10.2 km long route (journey usually takes 5 hour). If you plan to takes the cable car, it takes 5 to 7 minutes to reach the top. Be sure to come early especially during public or school holidays. The queue to board the cable car can take you hours!
